THE ONE WHO GOT AWAY......
Oh u the lucky one
The one who got away
Who knew it was futile
To chase after a mirage of love
That would never come to fruition.
That all the promises were lies
Entangled in a cobweb of false dreams
Woven to trap an innocent heart
Do u know how lucky u got
Before it was just too late
And you would have bled tears
Through your veins and heart
Had you stayed a little longer
The manipulation would have grown
Strangled you stronger before u could have known
And abuse would have throttled
Your self-respect and pride
The claws of humiliation would have gnawed at your sensitive side
He would have torn you bit by bit
Like some flesh-eating locust
Until u cried in insane pain
And screams and gasps would be imprisoned
Inside your trembling lips
Because u had been commanded not to breathe
Your sweet desires and dainty dreams would be crushed
Under his cruel, conniving feet
Until they turned to mournful dust
And do u know how insignificant you would have been
In front of his wicked and all-consuming ego
That would demean and destroy u with each passing or not moving second
Where under the glare of his blazing rage
You would burn and singe to raw flesh
Until the soreness of your hurt
Would convert seconds to hours and hours to days
Where time would stand still
While you throbbed and ached with hurt
When your explanation and defense
Would fall on deadened deaf ears
As his dictionary had never known the term sympathy
And empathy had never been born in his heart
Do u know how blessed you are?
That you didn't really get to see
The height of his vile and monstrous
Ways
Where he would man-handle you
And pin you down and hold your neck
While you were pregnant with his baby
And how he would yell and shout that the fault was always yours
Ofcourse bcoz the fault is never his
He has always been "instigated" in his life
People have always provoked him into a storm
His tantrums and mania would always be justified
Becoz it is YOU who "makes" him do it
His fury and violence and the eruption like a seething, roaring volcano
Would make you tremble like delicate petals
In the ferocity of a tornado
Oh so trapped you would feel
When you couldn't turn left or right
When you could neither breathe nor stop the mundane, mechanical process of exhalation and inhalation
When you would pinch yourself red hoping to wake out of the nightmare
Or find some heavenly hidden keys
An escape to some faraway land
And never look back ever again
How lucky you are that u never knew
The darkness would be so dark
That you would be convinced you are blind
And look away in defeat and despair
You wouldn't know what to pray for
When you raise your hands in an injured prayer
As you would feel so lost like you never belonged anywhere
And there would be no correct way to end this torment
You would cry yourself to sleep every frightening night
Or wake up crying from an unknown nightmare
Where he would push you away when u reached out to hug him
And push you harder if you dared to disagree
His threats and thoughtless behavior
Would keep you on the edge like you were walking on eggshells
And ofcourse he would be a gentleman
To all the people outside
So kind and oh so gentle
To stranger women and kids
How ignorant would be the envious wives
Who would say that he is such a soft-spoken, amazing man
Who must be spreading stars under her feet
Except that you would know
It's all an obsessive facade
Which he has worked so hard to cultivate
Lucky you are that you didn't see
Or experience what I do everyday
For me you will always be the fortunate one
The one who got away.....
